Mudgie faces forward!

We reached another big milestone in the world of Mudgie. Last Sunday night we turned his car seat around in my car. We had to turn him forward in order to make room for him and the new baby in the car. It's a little weird for me seeing 2 car seats back there. It makes Midgie's arrival very real! On the other hand, it's a great talking point for Mudgie...another way to show him that his world is soon to be turned upside down.

Mudgie was so excited to ride in the car on Monday morning. We'd really been pumping him up to "face forward" and be a big boy. He pointed out everything he saw on his way to Karen's that morning, and in the afternoon when we were going home he told me I was asking him too many questions about his day. All he wanted to do was look out the window!

On Tuesday, Mudgie went to the farm with Karen and his friends from daycare. He got to see all kinds of animals, but his favorite part was the hay ride, which was pulled by none other than a tractor! It is so cool to pick Mudgie up at the end of the day and have him, not Karen, tell us about his day. His vocabulary is just amazing, and while his sentences are rarely grammatically correct, he definitely gets his message across.

On Friday we went out to Western Mass to visit Grampy Michael. We got to see some big trucks (a ladder truck and a trash truck) while we were there, and then we got to go out to lunch. Mudgie's favorite part was the "special treat" that came at the end...an ice cream sandwich! He'd never had such an amazing dessert...a cookie and ice cream, all at the same time!

Grammy and Grampy Weatherwax came out to visit for the weekend, and while the weather was less than fabulous, we still had a great time. On Sunday we even got out for a walk and played on the playground. Mudgie had a great time going across the bridge and swinging on the fast swing. On Sunday night, Grampy showed him how to build a fort, and the whole family had fun. Mudgie loved playing in it, but I think he enjoyed playing on it even more. He was jumping off the fort into people's arms, and counting "1, 2, 3" before taking the leap. Of course, he said it so quickly that it still didn't give anyone much notice that they had to catch him!

In another preparation for Midgie, we raised the crib back up to it's highest setting. Mudgie, who doesn't miss a beat, immediately wanted to go in the crib and take a "nap." He told us that he wanted to sleep there, and that the baby should not sleep there. I'm hoping that by changing just 1 thing at a time and giving him time to adjust, things will go ok when Midgie finally arrives. However, he definitely knows his time alone with his mama is growing short, as he has been very clingy with me lately. All I can do is give him the love and attention he is looking for, and keep reassuring him that he will always be my "Mudgie Man."
