Hanukkah, a Christmas Party, and Snow!

Well Christmas is almost here, and I know one present Mudgie is getting, and no one bought it for him...more teeth! The poor little guy must be pretty uncomfortable because he's been waking up in the middle of the night, screaming, not just crying like he normally does. Twice last week he was up at 4:30am, and would not go back to sleep. On Friday, not only was he up at 4:30am, but he also decided to forgo all naps. Let's just say he was in a great mood that night!

On Saturday we went to Agawam to celebrate Hanukkah with Grampy Michael and Auntie Lee. Mudgie was really into the whole present opening thing, though he did get a little overwhelmed with all the new toys. I can just imagine what Christmas morning is going to be like. Later that night we went to a big family Christmas party. There were lots of people there, and I thought Mudgie was going to be completely overwhelmed, but he totally surprised me and settled in pretty quickly. He is in love with his 5-year-old cousin Brandon, who was more than happy to entertain him all evening!

On Sunday, we got Mudgie all dressed up to play outside in the snow, but he didn't want any part of it. I was a bit surprised, and I'm now a little concerned about our plans to put him on skis next month, but I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Aside from the incoming teeth, Mudgie has been in a pretty good mood lately. He continues to improve his vocabulary every day, and definitely has some odd words (like "glider") considering his very limited vocabulary. His newest set is "doggy," "blankie," and "me," which he says with such enthusiasm and conviction! He has also decided that he no longer wants to wear a bib when he eats, which isn't too bad unless he's eating cereal and yogurt for breakfast. In that case, whatever he's wearing needs to be removed immediately after breakfast, and thrown in the hamper. He decided a month or two ago that he was comfortable feeding himself with a spoon and fork, though it can still be a somewhat messy process. It's just so amazing to watch him grow and decide for himself when he will reach the next milestone, though also sometimes totally frustrating.
