We thought last Christmas was so much fun with Mudgie. He was really into opening all his toys (not so much the clothes), and seemed very much in the holiday spirit. Well this year, with Mudgie now almost one and a half, was so much better. It may have taken us 3 days to open all his presents, but that is only because he wanted to play with each present immediately after opening it. Daddy, who likes to "make Christmas last" was very pleased with how Mudgie operated this year! The big hits of the season were as follows: the sled and the pajamas Grammy and Grampy Weatherwax got for him, the baby and stroller Santa brought him, and the train set we got for him.
Daddy and Mudgie got up early on Christmas morning, and the sled was sitting in the living room when they came downstairs. Mudgie was so excited that he couldn't wait to get in it! He was also very happy with the baby, as that is the first thing he runs for when he gets to daycare in the morning, so having one at home was a big deal. The funniest and cutest reaction, though, was when he opened the pajamas. They are just the regular fleece, one-piece get-ups that he has now, but he seemed to think they were some sort of cool "blankie." He kept putting them over his head and running around the house. He could have spent half an hour doing that!
The rest of the holiday festivities went well, and we all had a nice time visiting with Grammy, Grampy, Auntie Lisa, and Uncle Robb, who spent the whole weekend with us. Mudgie was a little upset that he couldn't have Mommy "belly time" whenever he wanted due to the company, but he made up for it by watching too much tv...we'll really have to work on that once vacation is over! And if you are wondering what "belly time" is all about, Mudgie has been enjoying cuddling with my bare belly. He will pull a throw pillow off the couch and put in on the floor. He then points to it and says "Mama," so I'll lay down on the pillow. He then proceeds to lift up my shirt and snuggle with my belly, almost like he wants to get back in! He's particularly fond of sticking his fingers in my belly button.
We have big plans to get him to some museums this week, so hopefully we will all have fun. I know Daddy and I are really looking forward to a week off from work with nowhere to be and nothing to do.
