So Mudgie and I both came down with a little cold this week. Not a big deal, just a runny nose, cough, sore throat kind of thing. By Thursday, we both seemed to be feeling almost all better. Then on Friday, we get a call from Karen (our daycare provider) that another kid there has Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease, but he was only there 1 day last week, and it's spread through saliva and he and Mudgie don't generally play with the same stuff, so she thinks we are probably ok.
Fast forward to today, when Mudgie woke up from his nap a little "off." I took his temp, and it was normal, so we went about the rest of the day like we would any other. We ran a few errands and then played outside, but Mudgie was very mellow and kept yawing and acting sleepy. We went out for dinner, and Mudgie just wasn't into it, despite getting his favorite dish, "dillas," or quesadillas with rice and beans. He was done a few minutes after our food arrived, and so it was a very quick dinner for all. By the time we got into the car I knew he was sick. His head was burning up, and when we got home I found his temp was almost 103! We dosed him with drugs and let him lounge on the couch watching some tv for bit, before we took him upstairs for bed. He was so tired and out of it. My poor little boy just looked so pathetic!
On a happier note, Mudgie had some friends over on Saturday (who will now probably also get sick...oops). Ryan, who is 2 years older than Mudgie, and his little brother Grant, who is the same age as Mudgie came over to play. They all played really well together, and Mudgie did a great job sharing his toys. I think he was a little overwhelmed by the 2 boys, but he was completely fascinated with Ryan, and mimicked him all day! We ended the evening with a trip to Kimball's, where Mudgie found room for some ice cream even though he didn't eat dinner (this should have been my first clue he was getting sick).
In all, it has been a pretty sick week in our house, which has made for lots of night wakings and early mornings for everyone. I guess things are going to get worse before they get better, so hopefully by next weekend there is better news to report on.
