Due to the weather, the 4th of July celebrations were pushed to the 5th of July this year. Instead of going to see fireworks on the 4th, we went to REI instead, where all the boys got backpacks and raincoats for upcoming camping trip. The boys had so much fun in the store! I guess that's what happens when we get everything online...shopping becomes a cool adventure! Tommy spent the whole trip in his new backpack, which was a great way to make sure it was really comfortable. Then we went out to dinner with Auntie Andrea, Uncle Nathan, and cousin Hazel. It was a pretty perfect rained out day.
After a few clouds in the morning, the 5th turned into a beautiful day. We had an early dinner at home and headed over to Nara Park in Acton to enjoy the festivities. We got ice cream and set up on a blanket to enjoy the live band and people watch. Tommy enjoyed both for quite a while, but by 8pm (1 hour past his bedtime, he was starting to get a little cranky. The big boys were on second dessert (or maybe third...I may have lost track) and were happy as clams. Once we broke out the glow sticks Mudgie started to get super silly, and he was dancing around on cloud 9. After much cajoling, Tommy finally fell asleep, and thankfully, I was able to get him into the stroller without waking him up. Shortly after that, the fireworks started. The boys "oooh'd" and "ahhhh'd" through a great fireworks show. It was around 9:30 when everything finished, so we loaded Aaron into stroller with Tommy and walked the 1-2 miles back to the car. Mudgie did a great job and didn't complain at all. I was really proud of him.
Sunday was filled with some final landscaping work to finish the beds by patio, lots of outdoor play, and some swimming at Grandma Mary and Grandpa Steve's pool. Lots of summer activities filling the days.
