A Week of Firsts

Well, it's been a pretty exciting week in the Weatherwax household. Mudgie, per usual, continues to keep us on our toes. He's perfected the sit and spin move, which means pretty much anything within a 3-4 foot radius is now well within his reach. He looks like he will crawl any second, but we know better! That little man just hates to be on his tummy, so rather than move around on his hands and knees, he prefers to flip over to his back and scream for someone to help him...and we do every time. He's smarter than we give him credit for!

Back to the firsts. On Thursday night, for the first time ever, Mudgie slept through the night. He went from 11:30 pm to 5:45 am without waking up. And the best part about it, is he did it in his crib. So what if the next 3 nights were just awful...that night gives us hope.

On Saturday Mudgie went for his very first haircut. Now I know he's needed a haircut for about 3 months now, but I just wasn't ready for it (yes, I wasn't ready for it). We brought him to Kid Klips, a place that specializes in kiddie haircuts. He got to sit in an airplane while a rather strange woman cut his hair. He was doing well until the strange woman sprayed his head with water. Since we all know that Mudgie is very particular about how he enjoys water, it will come as no surprise that he wasn't thrilled about this. To make a long story short, he ended up getting his hair cut on my lap while Daddy stood in front of us with a puzzle for him to play with. We both survived, and now he looks so handsome!

On Sunday, we took Mudgie on his first real hike up Mt. Osceola...his first 4000-footer! We started the hike in the rain, and while we were worried about the falling water situation, Mudgie loved every minute of it! Fortunately, the rain stopped shortly after we started. We got to summit and enjoyed lovely views of clouds, but Mudgie didn't seem bothered by it. We took some pics, had a little snack, and then headed back down. Proving that he is capable of sleeping anywhere when he wants to, Mudgie fell asleep in the bouncy backpack on the way down! Now why he won't sleep in his crib is beyond me.
