11 Months Old!!!

Yup...as unbelievable as it may seem, Mudgie is now 11 months old! We sent out invitations for his first birthday party. I can't deny it, he's growing up.

Let's talk about his bag of tricks. While he's still not crawling, Mudgie is getting more and more adventurous (and creative) when it comes to reaching for things more than an arms length away. He will get onto his hands and knee (just one) and keep one foot on the floor. He'll use that foot to scoot himself over to whatever it is he wants to grab...usually it's something he's not supposed to have. This is a long and tedious process, and sometimes he'll lose his balance and end up on all fours, but instead of crawling, he still flops onto his belly and flips onto his back and screams for someone to help him. This is probably the thing he's been most consistent about for the past 4 months!

Mudgie's walking, however, continues to improve every day. He now prefers to walk around holding on with only 1 hand (his right) so that his other hand is free to touch and pick up everything he sees (again, usually he is only interested in the things he shouldn't be playing with). New this week, Mudgie will walk all by himself while holding onto a push toy. Eventually he'll fall down and then cry for someone to rescue him. This boy really needs to learn how to sit up and get himself up to standing (when stranded in the middle of the room).

As for words, Mudgie has always been a talker. He's been saying "mama" for quite some time, and now says "dada" on command as well. He'll say "ball", "wawa" (water), and something that is supposed to be Tiggy (though that's not what it sounds like at all). Sleeping is about the same, which is to say that he goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up once or twice before we bring him into bed with us, which is sometime between midnight and 3am.

Mudgie had his first allergic reaction this week. We've been getting more and more adventurous with what we feed him, as he seems to like just about everything (except peas and spinach) and hasn't had a reaction to anything. Well, our luck ran out. On Thursday night we fed Mudgie 2 vegetarian "chicken nuggets", and he woke up Friday morning with hives all over. Fortunately, he didn't seem to be uncomfortable, but we won't be giving him those again anytime soon! However, we did go to Kimball's again on Sunday and Mudgie seemed to be much more into the ice cream this week. He loved Mommy's chocolate chip, and helped Daddy eat his cookies and cream right from the cone! But the best part of the trip was when Mommy fed some ice cream to the goat, and Mudgie thought it was SO funny that he laughed so hard that everyone around us was laughing too...everyone except the goat Nazi who yelled at me for feeding the goat ice cream! Oh well...it was for a good cause!

WOW. 11 months old...unbelievable!

He's changing so much in such a little amount of time! I cannot wait to hear him say all of his first words in person!
