Warning: Milestones may wreak havoc on sleep!

Mudgie reached another milestone this week! He finally figured out how to sit himself up. It used to be that he always needed help sitting up, since he'd try to do while laying on his back. Well this week I guess he spent enough time on his tummy that he found out how easy it is to sit himself up that way! He now has all the tools he needs to get wherever he wants to go. He can scoot himself over the furniture and pull himself up to standing. He can then walk along until he falls, sit himself back up, and scoot again. He still has yet to figure this sequence out, but it's only a matter of time now!

However, he's so excited and proud of himself for sitting up and walking, that his sleep has been exceptionally bad this week. On Monday night, he woke up at 2am (not the first waking of the night) and wouldn't go back to sleep until 5am! Apparently, this was playtime, but no one sent me the memo! Then on Friday night, the same day he discovered sitting up, Mudgie took a 2 hour "nap" at 8pm, and then was up until 2am! I'm hoping he gets over the novelty of it all soon, because I don't know how much longer I can handle the nightly parties.

We had to lower Mudgie's crib to the lowest setting now that he can sit up and pull himself up. We also have to be very careful about leaving the doors at the top of the stairs open, as Mudgie will scoot himself right over to them at the first opportunity. He's making car noises when he pushes his toy cars around, and he chases Tiggy around the house trying to pet him. Actually, Mudgie is very gentle with Tiggy, and only about 25% of their interactions end with Mudgie pulling out a fistful of Tiggy hair. For his part, Tiggy is very patient, and will just run away when he's had enough.

Mudgie's birthday is coming quick, and we are busy preparing for the party festivities. It's hard to believe that a whole year has gone by, but that's another post entirely...
