Well, this time last year I was giant, swollen, and in bed before the fireworks. This year I am slightly less giant and swollen, but was still in bed before the fireworks! Mudgie's sleep has been such a mixed bag...there were a couple of nights this week when he was up every 45 minutes to an hour. There were also nights when he slept in 3-4 hour stretches, and in his crib all night! I have no idea what we are going to get when he goes to bed...I just cross my fingers every night.
This week Mudgie will start having "moo-moo" milk mixed in with his "mama" milk. We did a trial bottle this weekend to be sure he didn't have a reaction, and all seemed to go well. My little man is turning into such a big boy! We'll be mixing a bit into his bottles until there is no "mama" milk left, and then we'll have to work on getting rid of the bottles, but one step at at time.
Mudgie is just so much fun to play with these days. He's getting much better at letting you know what he wants with pointing and sounds/words, and also what he doesn't want with screams and temper tantrums! He still loves his balloon (we have one from Daddy's birthday that is now a month old and still floating), and black spoon is making a comeback as a walking stick! Cars and books are always a favorite, and pretty much any non-conventional toy, like tupperware or a can of baking powder.
Mudgie got another haircut this week. We went back to the same "kiddie" haircut place, but had a different person this time...not quite as weird as the last lady, but close. Mudgie got to sit in the plane again, and she used the clippers on him this time. Unfortunately, this didn't seem to make him enjoy the experience any more, and once again he cried the whole time...at least with the clippers that time was a little shorter. The end result was pretty good, though, and my little man is more handsome than ever!
The weather finally cleared up so that we could play outside, and Mudgie had fun in his kiddie pool, and in his float in the big pool! He enjoyed helping Daddy with the deck outside, and even uses his little hammer on the floor like daddy does on the deck. Even cuter, however, are Mudgie's new dance moves. He'll bop, swing, and squeal with delight when there is music on the radio, or when Daddy plays guitar or piano. He can't wait to show off all his tricks at his party next weekend. Wish us all luck...
