Happy New Year!

We had such a fun week with Mudgie. It's been so long since we've had so much time together as a family, and it was really nice to spend the week doing whatever we wanted. It became very apparent to us this week how quickly our little man is learning and growing up. Every day he had multiple new words, and he has started putting 2 words together consistently. Even more impressive than his words, however, is how much he knows. He is still working to get the words to express himself, but he's getting very good at explaining himself in other ways (many of them don't even involve screaming). For example, he knows what almost every truck in his truck book is called. If you ask him to point to, say, the "telephone line repair truck" he'll show you exactly where it is. Then he'll also point out that the man in the truck is wearing a hat...it's pretty amazing.

This week we took him to the Children's Museum in Acton. I remember going there as a kid and having a great time there. Mudgie continued that tradition. When you walk in, you enter the train room, with a big train table, and also a giant train that you can actually go inside. Mudgie started freaking out and saying, "Choo choo, choo choo!" I didn't even know he knew what sounds a train made! Needless to say, he was in heaven. He was also a giant fan of the water room, and probably could have played in there all day if we had let him. In fact, he had a good time in every room, except the "diner" room where he didn't understand that all the plastic food they had was pretend, and that he wasn't really supposed to eat it.

Thanks to all the snow we got this week, Mudgie was able to take full advantage of his new sled. He loved it. He kept saying, "more, more" as we took turns pulling him around the yard. His favorite part is the little hill between our yard and our neighbor's driveway. We pull him up the hill and then let him slide down. It's only a couple feet, but it's perfect for Mudgie!

Next week it's back to work and daycare. I'm sure Mudgie will be happy to see all his friends and show off his new "tricks," but we're going to miss spending all day with our little man. He's at such a fun age right now...we are just trying to soak up every minute of it!
