We all knew it had to happen sometime. Most of us never thought it would take more than 13 months to get there, but on Wednesday night, Mudgie slept through the night. That's right. All. Night. Long. He didn't wake up once. He slept from 8pm until 6am. Straight through. And then he did it again, and again, and again. AMAZING! The first night he did it both Daddy and I woke up in the middle of night wondering what was going on. We both wondered if we should go in and check on him, and both decided that would probably wake him up. It was a wonderful new experience.
Earlier in the week, Mudgie was still recovering from whatever bug he had over the weekend. Sleep was still not good (up 2-4 times a night), and he was still cranky during the day. On Monday we went to the dermatologist so she could take a look at Mudgie's face rash, which is much better than it had once been, but still there. She said it's eczema and gave us a prescription cortizone cream...I don't think it's doing anything yet.
Once Mudgie felt better and turned into my happy little boy again, that's when things really started changing. First, he decided he was done with bottles. We were only too happy to let those go as both Daddy and I hated washing them every night. Now he only drinks out of his sippy cups! Then another little boy started at daycare, so Mudgie's not the baby anymore. He seems to be doing well with it. And then he slept through the night. It's been a really big week for him!
This weekend was a lot of fun. We went hiking in New Hampshire, and did the Welch Dickey Loop. Mudgie did great as long as we were moving! He finally fell asleep in the pack when we were less than 30 minutes from the car...he just fought it for so long! Then on Labor Day we had our friends the Imbeaults over to visit. Mudgie was very interested in Ryan, who's 3, even if he didn't really want to share his toys with him, but could have cared less about Grant, who's about 2 months younger than Mudgie. It's so funny to watch him with other kids. On Friday we went over to our neighbor's house to meet their new little baby, and Mudgie barely acknowledged his existance, though he did have a lot of fun playing with Lauren, who's 2. I guess since he's around "big kids" at daycare all day, that's who he's used to playing with.
It was a wonderful long weekend, and we are just so happy that everyone FINALLY got a full night's sleep!

That's awesome! Yay for sleep! You'll all feel so much better nowadays! You are a trooper for putting up with it for so long - way stronger and happier than I would have been! HA!

That is so nice and thoughtful of Mudgie to finally let you both sleep through the night! LOL. Maybe Mudgie was thinking it was Christmas Eve every night for 13 months??? His Daddy is known for not sleeping through the night on Christmas Eve! We all know how much they both LOVE presents! Just a thought... :)
