A Week of Ups and Downs

Let's start with the good. Mudgie went to the aquarium with daycare this week. Apparently, he loved it...I know, big surprise! He loved watching all the fish and sharks in the big tank, and he liked the "exploration" tank so much he almost fell in. The place really wore him out, though, as he was asleep in the car before they even made it out of the parking lot.

Then on Wednesday, we took the day off to spend with our cousins Andrea and Nathan, who were visiting from NYC. We went to Water Country, which was a lot of fun. We had great weather for it, as it was sunny and hot. Unfortunately, everyone else thought of the same great idea, so it was packed! Mudgie went on the lazy river, and loved it until we had to go through the waterfall. After that, he wasn't such a big fan. He was too little to go on any of the slides, but there were lots of kiddie areas for him to splash around in. I think he would have had a lot more fun if there weren't so many "big" kids (read 4-8 years old), who were too busy playing to watch out for my little man. We did find a quieter pool that had water spitting out of the ground that Mudgie found very entertaining. We really had a great time there!

Then, on Thursday afternoon, we had to pick Mudgie up early from daycare because he had a fever. He was acting fine, so at first I thought it was just due to teething, but unfortunately, the fever persisted, and on Friday my happy little man turned into a whining, cranky monster! We made a quick visit to the doctor on Friday to rule out an ear infection. We were told to keep him hydrated, give him drugs to control the fever, and call back if he still had a fever in 5 days!!! Saturday was just as miserable as Friday, only it rained all day so we couldn't even go outside to play. Poor Mudgie wanted to play with his red car so badly. He'd go over to the slider and point to his car and say "vroom, vroom." It was pretty heartbreaking, considering he seemed to be feeling so miserable. Fortunately, he seemed to be feeling a bit better on Sunday, and he only had a sporadic fever, and it never got above 100.4, but his whining and crankiness continued. Both Daddy and I are really hoping that a recovery comes soon...for everyone's sake!

I hope Mudgie is feeling better and back to himself!
