Once the rain stopped and Mudgie could go outside and play with his new swing set, he was in love! He never wants to be inside anymore, which is a little bit of a problem, but we're working on it. Every day when we get home, he immediately wants to go play outside. At least we know how to keep him entertained and happy, and it's better than watching tv!
On Saturday, Mudgie played outside all day long. Our neighbors came over in the morning, and Mudgie had so much fun playing with Lauren on his new swing set. I was very impressed with how well he shared. He loves climbing up the ladder into his "house," and then going down the slide on his belly. Unfortunately, the slide is in the sun, and later in the day it got pretty hot, so going down on his belly became a lot less fun, so he ditched the slide and went back to his car! The day only got better with a nice dinner out and our first trip of the season to Kimball's. Mudgie loved watching all the animals while I waited in a very long line. We even gave Mudgie his very own ice cream cone, so he didn't have to wait for someone to offer him a bite. Needless to say, he was a very happy little boy.
On Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny left a basket of goodies for Mudgie. He got a movie (Cars), a book, and eggs filled with goodies (goldfish, cookies, etc.). Later in the day we went to Boxford to spend time with my grandparents, brother, and extended family. Mudgie loved all the dogs there, but he was very clear that he didn't want to "play" with them, he only wanted to "watch."
He continues to expand his vocabulary, and is now familiar with the numbers 1-5, and knows that answer to almost any question about numbers is "not nine." He's getting very good about putting multiple words together, and will tell you about "Mickey Mouse" and the "yellow bus." When he gets going, he will even tell you a story, but at that point he's usually so excited that you can't really make out what he's saying, but it's pretty adorable anyway!
Next weekend we may try out the big boy bed. Midgie's arrival is coming quicker than I could have imagined, and I'd like to have Mudgie comfortable in his new room well before then. Wish us luck!
