This weekend we went to the Big E (a giant fair out in Western Mass, for anyone who is unfamiliar). We drove out to Springfield on Friday night, and that went so much better than I had anticipated. It was Aaron's longest car ride ever, and we now had to work with the schedules of 2 little ones. Luckily for us, both boys were pretty cooperative, and we got on the road shortly after Mudgie's usual bedtime in anticipation of both boys sleeping the whole way out there. Aaron didn't peep the entire ride, and Mudgie was very good as well, but he didn't sleep a wink. He was so excited to see his Grammy that he forced himself to stay awake (or "up wake," as Mudgie says) until we got there!
On Saturday, Mudgie was very excited about the Big E because he knew he'd be getting all kinds of junk food (as we had been talking about it all week). In fact, I'm pretty sure he ate nothing with real nutritional value all day! He had french fries, ice cream, donuts, popcorn, and fried dough...and he loved them all! Mudgie and Aaron both went on the carousel with me, and Mudgie and Daddy went on the flying bees, or "Big Buggies" as Mudgie called them. Mudgie wanted to go on many more rides, but unfortunately he was just a few inches too short. Aaron spent the day in the baby carrier, and was a little fussy, but for the most part did very well. We all got to see lots of animals, play a few games, and see a parade. Mudgie had such a good time!
On Sunday, we all went to a BBQ at my boss's house. Fortunately for us, he has 3 kids and lots of toys that Mudgie loved to play with. They had a great swing set and backyard, and a giant playroom with lots of toys. It even had a trampoline, but lucky for us Mudgie didn't know what it was, or we never would have been able to go home! As it was we had to drag him away. On the way home he said, "Me have fun there." I love it when he expresses his happiness.
