Solid food and sitting up

Aaron has become such a big boy this week. Since everyone has (mostly) recovered from our colds, we thought it was finally time to give Aaron what he seems to want so badly...real food. On Saturday morning we strapped him into the high chair that Mudgie left behind just weeks ago, and gave him some baby oatmeal. It was very anti-climatic! He opened up his little mouth to eat, but just about everything that went it came right back out. It was a messy meal. That night he broke out in a rash all over his tummy, so we've decided to hold off on the oatmeal for a bit.

Aaron has also started to sit up by himself for more than a few seconds. For a while, any time we'd sit him up he'd just slouch over to one side and eventually fall over. Now, however, he has learned how to right himself. He still falls over plenty, but at least he can sit a play with a toy for a few minutes before that happens now!

Unfortunately, Aaron has become such a "Mama's boy" that it's nearly impossible for me to get anything done! He's as happy as a clam as long as I'm holding him. The second I put him down, he makes the saddest pouty face and starts crying. And if that wasn't bad enough, his cries sound like he's saying, "Mama, Mama!" No joke.

Mudgie is such a talker these days. We have these awesome conversations on the way home from daycare at night. One night last week we were talking about Christmas. Mudgie saw a tree that still had its holiday lights on, and he started talking about decorating the tree with ornaments. I told him he has to wait a whole year for Christmas to come again, but that he'd get more presents on his birthday, which is before the next Christmas. To this he replied, "No, Mommy. Birthday is for cake. Christmas is for presents!" I guess that will make his birthday easy this year! He continues to surprise me with what he has to say, and I love listening to his views of the world...it really gives you a great appreciation for all life has to offer.
