Happy Halloween

What a Halloween it was! We started the day just like any other, but after Mudgie woke up from his nap, we went to "Touch a Truck" day at Kimball's. They had all these different types of trucks that the kids could play on/in. There were construction trucks like a front loader and excavator, to emergency trucks like a police car and fire truck, to landscaping trucks and more. Mudgie was was totally amazed. I really don't think he even smiled much while were there...he was too busy taking it all in to really take the time to sit back and enjoy it. He went in just about all the trucks, but for the most part he enjoyed looking at them more than he did playing in them. There was one landscaping truck, the skid steer (which I know only because it's shown in one of Mudgie's truck books), that Mudgie loved to play in. He actually cried when he had to come out so that other kids could have a turn. All in all, the event was a huge hit, and I'm sure we'll be going back there next year!

After Mudgie's second nap, we put him in his costume so we could get some good outdoor pics while the sun was still up. He really enjoyed playing in his costume, and ran around for quite some time just roaring like a dinosaur! After dinner it was time for trick-or-treating. I really didn't have any expectations for this, and figured we might get to 5 or 6 houses before Mudgie was ready to be done...boy was I wrong! Mudgie was a little confused at the first house we stopped at and didn't really understand why a stranger was giving him something, but he happily put it in his pumpkin and we were off to the next house. By the time we hit the third house, he had the trick-or-treat process down: walk up walkway (we carried him from house to house, but made him do the walkway himself), let Mom or Dad ring the doorbell, smile at stranger, pick out candy from stranger to put in pumpkin bucket, wave goodbye and leave. He LOVED it! We went all around the neighborhood (about an hour of trick-or-treating) before he was so tired we had to go home.

We tuckered out our little dinosaur so much that he slept for an extra hour the next morning, which made our time change transition really easy! The nice weather on Sunday allowed for more outdoor fun. I'm so glad that Mudgie loves playing outside as much as we do. Let's hope he's a big fan of the snow this winter.

We survived the week without Dada, though we both missed him very much. Mudgie would ask for him every morning when I got him out of his crib, something that Dada usually does. It broke my heart to tell him that Dada wasn't here. He was a very happy boy when Dada went to get him on Friday morning, and so was Mama because that little boy is a lot for one person to handle!
